If year-round sunshine, high-end dining, top-tier deep sea fishing, and championship golf courses are what you're seeking, but you'd prefer extreme privacy and unparalleled service, look no further than Las Ventanas al Paraíso, a Rosewood Resort.

Situated along the tourist corridor about 30 minutes' drive from San José del Cabo's international airport, this stunning resort offers gorgeous ocean-view rooms and suites, secluded villas, and lush residences with plenty of opportunities for quiet moments, breathtaking scenery, and explorations of the local Baja culture. If you're seeking a luxury stay that's convenient to Cabo San Lucas, yet far enough away to feel off the beaten path, this beautiful resort is the perfect choice.

Las Ventanas al Paraíso, a Rosewood ResortThe resort's stunning infinity-edge pool mirrors the tranquil Sea of Cortez beyond, where plush sun loungers, white market umbrellas, and a palapa bar create an effortlessly sophisticated setting for guests seeking both seclusion and breathtaking coastal scenery.

The Resort

Opened in 1997, Rosewood's Las Ventanas al Paraíso — meaning "windows to paradise" in Spanish — is rife with hand-crafted Mexican detailing and little luxury touches, like telescopes in each suite for whale watching, wood-burning fireplaces, and private plunge pools from which to soak in the sprawling ocean views.

Offering 84 accommodations and 30 private residences on 22 acres along the Sea of Cortez, Las Ventanas is an ideal couples getaway in Mexico, with personalized beach dining, horseback rides along the coast, sleeping under the stars on your rooftop terrace, outdoor rain showers, and rose petal welcomes for your bed and bath. Every suite and villa (ranging from 960 to 28,000 sq. ft.) features 24-hour butler service, an in-room tequila-welcome kit, private plunge pools or hot tubs, and fresh fruit restocked daily.

For travelers seeking a family-friendly getaway, Las Ventanas al Paraíso offers one of the most effortless family vacation experiences. Staying in a suite by one of the resort's infinity-edge pools or along the lazy river lets your little ones enjoy the calm, sprawling pools while lush gardens and grassy areas give the whole crew plenty of space to spread out. Whale-watching, snorkeling, and UTV tours make for adventure-filled days that are enjoyable for all ages, and on-site cultural experiences like tequila classes and tastings, guided painting sessions, and cultural shows with live music bring the Baja experience to life for couples and families alike.

Rooms and suites range from $600 to $4,500 per night depending on room type and seasonality, while the villas cost anywhere from $5,000 to $10,000+ per night for the ultimate, ultra-luxury Mexico escape.

The resort spoils guests with four championship golf courses to choose from, all situated within and around the resort, carving along the shoreline. The golf concierge can help you arrange a tee time, carts, gear, and instruction for younger players if needed. While the ocean-view courses were breathtaking, a personal favorite was the "golf at the beach" experience, offered daily: you get to tee up directly on the sand, and hit eco-friendly, biodegradable golf balls into the ocean. After experiencing this, driving ranges don't stand a chance.

Getting There and Getting Around

Flights from the U.S. mainland arrive at Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), including nonstop service from LAX, JFK, DFW, ORD, SFO, MIA, and others. Flight times from the West Coast are typically no more than three hours, while East Coast travelers can typically reach Cabo within five to six hours. If you're coming from the East Coast, business class or higher will be a more comfortable experience.

If you prefer to fly private, most charter operations use the Los Cabos International Airport's facilities. If you plan to fly from Los Angeles, San Diego, or other short-hop markets, a private charter can be surprisingly competitive, especially for groups of 4-8, but having a travel advisor (like me) advocate for your private air travel can significantly improve your chances, at no additional cost. Regardless of how you arrive, your advisor and Las Ventanas will coordinate your ground transfer from the airport to the resort for an effortless check-in.

Dining at the Resort

If you're a foodie, a wine aficionado, or a tequila fan, you'll find plenty to delight your senses at Las Ventanas. The resort's onsite restaurants are among the best in Los Cabos.

From Árbol, a stylish and intimate space highlighting Asian and Indian cuisines and featuring local Baja California ingredients, to the poolside Alebrije, a culinary journey spanning the flavors of Italy; the elegant beachside Sea Grill offering fresh seafood and shellfish, and the Tequila and Ceviche Bar — Las Ventanas offers a culinary range few resorts can match.

The mezcal and artisanal tequila program is as important as the expansive wine list at Las Ventanas. From an in-room tequila welcome upon arrival to daily tequila and mezcal tastings and a lengthy list of agave spirits while dining, Mexico's tequila and mezcal heritage is on full display here. Private dining and tastings may be arranged in the intimate wine cellar La Cava or on the beach for a masterfully guided culinary experience. La Bodega, an upscale speakeasy, features Prohibition-era craft cocktails and live music on select evenings. Of course, if you prefer, in-room dining allows you to order from an extensive menu and have your meal delivered discreetly to enjoy in your suite's kitchen.

When you're ready for some offsite dining, Los Cabos offers Michelin-starred dining at Cocina de Autor Los Cabos in the Grand Velas resort, where the tasting menu takes you on a tour of Mexican-Asian fusion cuisine. Take your dinner to another level with the dramatic views from El Farallon at the Waldorf Astoria — dine on the freshest shellfish, the most opulent caviar, surf and turf or a classic seafood tower while soaking in the sound and smell of crashing waves just beneath you. Wherever you choose to dine, you won't be far from Baja California's unique culinary identity, with a focus on Mediterranean preparation methods using Pacific seafood, like yellowfin tuna and red snapper, as well as abalone and local shellfish.

Spa & Wellness

For those moments when you just want to get away from it all, the innovative Four Elements spa program at Las Ventanas, inspired by Baja's ancient healers, harnesses the powers of earth, air, fire, and water through rituals meant to offer ultimate rejuvenation.

Spanning 18,000 square feet, the spa encompasses private terrace treatment rooms, outdoor pools, and a steam and hydrotherapy circuit. Signature treatments include the Milk and Honey ritual, the Flor de Luna ritual featuring pitaya and moonflower, and the Four Hands Mezcal massage. In-room massages are also available, bringing the luxury and relaxation of spa rituals to your suite. A full fitness center offers weight machines and free weights, state-of-the-art treadmills, Pilates Reformer machines, Peloton bikes, and yoga equipment, as well as group and private classes and workout sessions. At Las Ventanas, there is plenty to keep you active and feeling your best.

Whale watching, snorkeling, scuba diving, private yacht charters, and sport fishing can all be arranged by Las Ventanas staff. Golf at one of the region's many top-tier courses, ATV adventures up the coast, or a visit to the boutiques and galleries of San José del Cabo's Art District offer an up-close glimpse of local culture. A day trip to Todos Santos leads you off the beaten path to a renowned artist colony with plenty of artisanal crafts, galleries, and local culture while taking in the dramatic mountain-to-sea scenery. Plan your visit around Día de los Muertos to delve even more deeply into Mexican culture, as the local residents honor their ancestors with flowers, ceremonies, and an energy you won't find replicated anywhere else.
