Bar Joséphine, managed by Nicola Battafarano (formerly of Chiltern Firehouse), offers international cuisine in a charming, jazzy atmosphere that is both spacious and elegant. Despite having 184 luxurious rooms, the hotel maintains an intimate ambiance complemented by personalized service.
Things to Know include the addition of a bar, lounge, and large breakfast room on the property, with the hotel planning to introduce its signature restaurant, Lutetia Brasserie, in 2019. Chef Gérald Passedat, of Marseille's Le Petit Nice fame, will helm the kitchen. The Akasha Holistic Wellbeing Centre features six treatment rooms, a sauna, a steam room, a Jacuzzi, a gym, and a 17-meter indoor pool. Bar Joséphine is named after the legendary Josephine Baker, a celebrated dancer, entertainer, and one of the hotel's most distinguished guests during its earlier glory days.
The rooms are tastefully decorated in beige and blue, the favorite colors of architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte. Each accommodation also features unique Murano glass wall lights and brushed oak floors. The hotel's 47 suites are all enviable retreats, but the seven signature accommodations are highlights. The original Poilâne bakery, where Lionel Poilâne created some of the finest loaves in France, is still in operation today at its original location less than 850 feet from the Paris hotel at 8 Rue du Cherche-Midi.
