The story of Amanyangyun begins in Fuzhou, a city located 435 miles from Shanghai. The construction of a new reservoir put many homes and camphor trees at risk, some of which dated back to the Ming and Qing dynasties. In a remarkable effort to preserve China's history, Aman collaborated with entrepreneur Ma Dadong over the course of ten years. Together, they oversaw the transportation and replanting of 10,000 trees, including the massive 80-ton emperor tree. Additionally, they carefully dismantled and reconstructed 50 antique houses stone-by-stone. Today, these houses and trees thrive at their new location 17 miles southwest of Shanghai. The beautiful architecture and Aman's unparalleled service make up Amanyangyun, a 25-acre nature sanctuary.

The Forbes Four-Star resort is the result of a remarkable feat of architectural and ecological preservation, with 13 re-mastered Ming and Qing Dynasty villas carefully moved from Fuzhou to become an integral part of the resort. One of their exceptional dining destinations is Lazhu, which is a Chinese restaurant that pays homage to the original home of Amanyangyun's camphor trees and Antique Villas. Their menu combines Jiangxi signature dishes and authentic Chaoshan cuisine, and the restaurant overlooks a bamboo grove. They offer seven private dining rooms with garden views and are open for lunch and dinner. Another dining option is Arva, an Italian restaurant located beside a lake that offers a warm and convivial atmosphere. They draw inspiration from Italy's farm-to-table 'cucina semplice' gastronomic tradition and showcase signature sharing plates. Arva is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Yinlu is a hot pot restaurant situated beside a lake and celebrates the traditional Chinese food culture of hot pot in the Cantonese style. It is open for dinner from Monday to Friday. For afternoon tea and evening drinks, guests can visit The Bar, which is open from mid-afternoon to late. Finally, for guests who enjoy fine cigars, the Cigar Lounge offers fine Cuban and Dominican cigars in an intimate space with copper and oak accents.

Located in Shanghai, the Amanyangyun Spa & Wellness Centre spans over 30,500 ft2 and is situated around a stunning central courtyard. It takes inspiration from the resort's name 'Yang Yun', which means 'nourishing cloud', which is part of an ancient 300-year-old inscription within Beijing's Forbidden City. The facility boasts two double spa suites and eight single treatment rooms, along with a sauna, plunge pool, Jacuzzi, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, Pilates and Yoga studio, and fitness center.
